The lives of three men lost in a fishing tragedy off the coast of Fleur de Lys were recognized in the House of Assembly this afternoon.
Brian Warr, the member for Baie Verte-White Bay rose during Member Statements on the opening day of the fall sitting to remember the three lives lost on September 13.
Cousins Brian and Leonard Walsh of Coachman’s Cove died when their open boat was swamped while participating in the inshore cod fishery. Tim Shea of Fleur de Lys was never found, while Dwayne Barret of Fleur de Lys was rescued. Warr commended the Coast Guard, RCMP, Ground Search and Rescue and local harvesters for their effforts.
