The province will be releasing its fall fiscal update in the next few weeks.
Finance Minister Siobhan Coady says the specifics will be revealed in the update, but does say it has been a good year economically for the province.
Last year, things were going so well with oil prices that the province was able to issue $500 cheques to people to help with the cost of living. However, Coady doesn’t believe they will have that much of a surplus in oil revenue this time around.
She doesn’t expect a huge amount of extra revenue from the oil and gas industry this year, based on what she’s seeing from the mid-year fiscal forecast. She says oil prices now are slightly below what they had anticipated, with some forecasters ranging that prices could go from the mid 80s to $100 per barrel.
