The Auditor General has delivered her audit report on spending at Memorial University to government, and the PC opposition leader wants to see it released to the public immediately.
The province requested a full and comprehensive review of operations at MUN back in April of 2022 amid rising concerns about spending at the university.
The AG’s report will help to inform final amendments to the Memorial University Act.
It is government’s decision whether or not to release the report.
PC Leader Tony Wakeham says if redactions are needed, so be it, but the report cannot be held back. He also took the opportunity to say what his party would do, if in government.
He says the government receives reports all the time and fails to release them, stating his government would release every single report.
Wakeham says if redactions are needed due to confidentiality, then do so, but withholding whole reports has to stop and there has to be accountability.
