The Canadian Homebuilders Association says the availability of skilled labour is a challenge that will need to be addressed if any progress is to be made on increasing the availability of affordable housing.
Executive Director Alexis Foster says while they’re pleased with initiatives announced by government this week, the labour crunch remains a serious concern.
The Association has highlighted the shortage of skilled labour with both the federal and provincial governments for some time says Foster. They’re also advocating that skilled labour in residential construction be among the considerations in the immigration process.
