It was a night of mixed results in the Newfoundland and Labrador sports world.
In curling action, Team Gushue lost a heartbreaker in the semifinals of the Grand Slam of Curling on Saturday, dropping a 6-3 decision to Team Bottcher. Gushue’s rink will next suit up at the Pan Continental in Kelowna, BC on October 29th.
Finally, the Newfoundland Growlers made it back-to-back wins to open the season with a 4-1 victory over the Reading Royals on Saturday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre.
Neil Shea nabbed a pair of goals while Grant Cruikshank and Brock Caufield found the back of the net for the second straight night.
These two finish up the series this afternoon at 4pm at Mary Brown’s Centre.
