The leader of the NDP is raising questions around resourcing related to a new body safety program for K-Grade 9 students in the province.
Government announced yesterday they would be implementing a new age-appropriate body safety program the Kids in the Know body safety program which aims to help children build skills that increase personal safety and reduce the risk of victimization online and offline of child abuse, sexual exploitation and bullying.
Jim Dinn says while he welcomes the news that such a program is being implemented, classrooms already do not have enough resources.
He says often times, the resources in classrooms are not available in the way government portrays.
Dinn says resources can mean many things, including number of teachers, technology and time in the curriculum.
He says for programs like body safety there needs to be smaller class sizes, the proper technology and the personnel, whether that be teachers, school counsellors, or public health nurses.
