Commuters who take Pitts Memorial Drive in and out of downtown St. John’s can expect continued slowdowns into the coming year.
Construction work on Pitts has been ongoing since the spring, leading some to wonder if the work will ever end.
The Department of Transportation says that work on the highway is still expected to wrap up late this year, while work on the CN viaduct, the overpass just before entering the downtown, will continue into 2024.
The department says all four lanes on the viaduct will be open to traffic during the winter months, with information on progress, lane reductions and closures to be provided as work continues.
