No decisions will be made on World Energy GH2’s proposed wind and hydrogen development on the Port au Port Peninsula until at least early in the new year.
Environment Minister Bernard Davis announced yesterday that more information is needed from the company in regard to their environmental assessment.
Once the company amends the document a 70 day review period will commence, which includes a 50-day public review period—which will include more opportunity for public feedback.
Davis says his decision is a routine part of the process given the magnitude of the document.
He says this is a new industry and government wants to make sure they get it right.
For example, he says they might want more information on the water that is required for the project or the technology that is going to be used.
