The Kids Eat Smart Foundation—Newfoundland and Labrador’s biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up this afternoon on Your VOCM.
It’s the Kids Eat Smart Radiothon in partnership with VOCM Cares.
Everyday, the Foundation serves more than 40,000 meals to school-aged children across the province at no cost to families.
Executive Director Celina Stoyles, says the need is greater than ever as the number of children eating breakfast in school has increased, as has the costs of supplying those breakfasts.
She asserts that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Together, they are committed to ensuring that, regardless of the reasons a child comes to school hungry, they will have access to food. Stoyles explains that when children have a healthy breakfast, they become mentally and physically stronger.
A one-dollar donation can provide a breakfast for a child. Today’s radiothon ensures that 100 per cent of the proceeds go directly towards food, equipment, and supplies for Kids Eat Smart Clubs in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Kids Eat Smart Radiothon is taking place on Your VOCM from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. today with a couple of ways to donate.
Stoyles says you can call 709-722-1996 or go online at www.kidseatsmart.ca.
She says without the support of their many donors, partners and school communities, Kids Eat Smart Clubs would not be possible.
Tomorrow is Radiothon! Broadcasting 1-5PM on all stations of VOCM/Big Land FM Radio Network. $1 is a breakfast.
