Memorial University’s Students’ Union is joining in a National Day of Action today to demand what they call barrier-free access to higher education and skills training.
Among their demands are a halt in tuition fees, and accessible grants to cover additional expenses like housing, food, textbooks and transportation.
Auditor General Denise Hanrahan’s recent audit of operations at Memorial University showed a lack of oversight on administrative spending. MUNSU says it confirmed that the university has failed to prioritize students—something the students’ union says it’s been saying for years.
MUNSU is leading a march this morning at 11:00 from the MUN Clock Tower along Prince Philip Drive to Confederation Building. A simultaneous rally takes place at Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook.
