The Independent MHA for Humber-Bay of Islands is calling this a “great day for Western Newfoundland.”
After years of uncertainty and delays, the keys to the new Western Memorial Regional Hospital will be handed over today.
The hospital has been a very long time in the making, having been initially announced by Premier Danny Williams back in 2007. It would be another twelve years before construction would begin.
A ceremony is being held in Corner Brook this morning at 10:30 to mark the completion of construction on the new hospital.
Eddie Joyce, a long-time proponent for the hospital took to Facebook yesterday calling the process leading to today’s ceremony “a long struggle.”
