The fishing and aquaculture industry in Newfoundland and Labrador has received $25 million in funding from the federal government to help advance the seafood sector.
Federal cabinet minister Gudie Hutchings announced support for 147 local projects through the Atlantic Fisheries Fund at Marine Institute in St. John’s yesterday.
Bonavista—Burin—Trinity MP Churence Rogers is excited for many of the projects including a $3.2 million infrastructure project at Gander International Airport.
Rogers says the money will be used for a cold storage facility to hold live fish products from local processing companies to be exported to other markets.
