Quinlan Brothers and Grieg Seafood have marked the beginning of an international partnership to process aquaculture salmon from Placentia Bay.
The new processing line is located at Quinlan’s Bay de Verde plant, and the companies say it will create year-round employment in the community.
Quinlan Brothers President Robin Quinlan describes that as “no small feat.”
Earlier this month, Grieg Seafood announced a successful harvest of a first generation of Salmon.
Managing Director with Grieg in Newfoundland Knut Skeidsvoll says they are excited to deliver locally grown fish to customers all over North America, noting that the impacts will be felt in many communities for years to come.
Two members of the Royal Norwegian embassy were in town to mark the occasion.
