The rules are changing for people wishing to obtain a commercial driver’s license.

As of January 3, new commercial drivers will be required to complete an approved educational training program in order to get their Class 1 license.

The change comes after a Canada-wide standard was adopted for the minimum entry-level training requirements for such drivers.

The provincial government says programs that meet the new standards are available at several post secondary institutions across the province.
