The president of Registered Nurses Union says a decision by the province to bring in a private company for a vaccine clinic at Confederation Building is another thing that boggles her mind.
Yvette Coffey told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly they have a large number of members and many more in other bargaining units that could have supplied the service.
The provincial government meanwhile, has issued a statement on behalf of the Public Service Commission which indicates that it wanted to make immunizations available to protect public service workers and their families.
The statement reads “Since 2012 we have sometimes availed of local nursing services to offer vaccine clinics to our employees since the public health system is already working hard to provide immunization to the larger population.”
