No increase to property taxes as the residential mil rate in the City of Corner Brook will be on the decline in 2024.
The residential mil rate drops by a quarter of a mil and will sit at 8.0. There will be an increase in the water levy to offset rising costs at the city. Residential owners will pay an extra $50, while commercial properties will see a $60 increase.
Infrastructure upgrades will also be in the offing. Funds in the 2024 budget have been earmarked to restructure the intersection at Confederation Drive and the mall exit. New equipment will also allow crews to double their capacity to repair potholes.
Corner Brook saw a drastic tourism boom over the summer, largely due to the arrival of numerous cruise ships. Work will continue to expand the accessible Great Trail, which will stretch nearly 13 km.
The ever so popular Mill Whistler Train, which rolls through the downtown during the summer months, will be replaced with a new street train.
