A 56-year-old Norris Point man has been charged with aggravated assault and a list of other offences following a shooting in the town last night that sent another man to hospital with injuries.
RCMP say Maxwell Upwards was arrested last night at a home on Main Street in Norris Point. The police operation forced the temporary closure of the road, which reopened early this morning.
He has been charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and other firearms offences.
Upwards made an appearance in court today.
The investigation continues.

Charges are pending following a shooting in Norris Point last night that sent a man to hospital with injuries.
Rocky Harbour RCMP say a man was taken to the Bonne Bay Health Centre last night for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A man was arrested and is being held in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for today.
A portion of Main Street was closed to traffic last night as police conducted their investigation. The road was reopened around 1:00 this morning.
Police remain at the scene in Norris Point as the investigation continues.
