Much of the conversation at the 28th annual United Nations climate meeting recently held in Dubai centered around carbon capture and utilization storage.
Environment Minister Bernard Davis represented the province at COP28, and participated in a panel on that topic.
Davis believes there is a great opportunity n this province, noting that in October the province launched a challenge fund, to the tune of $6-million, for industry and academia to look at local carbon capture options.
He says there is no path to net zero by 2050 without carbon capture and storage. Davis says Newfoundland has a vast offshore that can be used for that, and he believes it is a great opportunity.
