A giant drive-through Menorrah lighting is scheduled for this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in St. John’s to mark the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
The Jewish Chabad of Newfoundland is hosting the event, something they’ve done for the last six years.
Rabbi Chanan Chernitsky says this Hanukkah brings with it a different significance.
He says Hanukkah reminds people that light, positivity, kindness, hope, faith and love overcomes darkness. “We need to focus on this aspect of Hanukkah.”
Extra security will be on hand in light of recent events across the country.
