The City of Mount Pearl has been forced to put a lock on the washrooms at St. David’s Park due to vandalism.
Mayor Dave Aker says the washrooms and accessible playground have only been open for a little over two months, but has already become a target for vandals.
He says someone entered the facility on Monday night and trashed the washroom to the point where a temporary closure had to be put in place.
He says staff are working through the clean-up process in hopes of having it back up and running as soon as possible. Aker says they are disappointed to see such vandalism and are working with the RNC to hold the culprit accountable.
Closed… again ??
Vandalism strikes at the brand-new St. David's Park washrooms, resulting in the closure for the 2nd time since they opened. We are deeply disappointed to see these acts in our community.
Damaging public property is not only unlawful, but it's unfair to all. pic.twitter.com/KO1yg2Lvog
