The numbers are out on manufacturing in Canada, and the industry has declined nationally by 2.8 per cent from October 2022 to October 2023.
The decline in manufacturing was more dramatic in Newfoundland and Labrador, which saw a 6.4 per cent drop over the same one-year period. The industry went from $285-million in October 2022 to $267-million in October 2023.
Statistics Canada says total sales in constant dollars fell 2.2 per cent nationally in October, indicating a lower volume of goods sold.
