The MHA for Labrador West wants the AG to conduct a performance audit on the province’s health authority.
Jordan Brown says a probe into NL Health Services, former Regional Health Authorities and the Centre for Health Information is needed to uncover the amounts being spent on private health care.
Brown points to media reports indicating that the province’s use of for-profit nurses costs an additional $14 million annually in comparison to the costs spent on public sector nurses.
He says an audit is necessary to determine if the agreements were cost-effective and if the services could have been provided by existing public employees.
