All customers of Newfoundland Power are now back on the grid after a massive overnight outage.
Newfoundland Power originally had 11,000 without service, but quickly whittled that down to 2,000 and then 500.
The cause is attributed to malfunctioning equipment.
Earlier Story:
Newfoundland Power is making significant progress in restoring electricity after a widespread outage in metro left about 11,000 customers in the dark.
The outage zone is now confined primarily to the centre city region but originally included uptown to downtown and points east and west.
About 500 customers are still in the dark. The lights went out just before 1:30 and should be fully restored by 8:00 this morning.
The cause is attributed to malfunctioning equipment.
