Both the Crown and defence are proposing a sentence of three years and three months in prison for Joshua Burt.
Burt, 25, has been convicted of impaired driving causing the death of Brad Kerrivan on April 3, 2022.
The head-on collision occurred on Pitts Memorlal Drive, just west of Ruth Avenue, shortly after midnight.
Burt pleaded guilty, with his two-day sentencing hearing concluding this afternoon in provincial court.

Yesterday, five victim impact statements were read into the record amid a flood of emotion in the packed courtroom.
Today, lawyers for the Crown and defence recommended the three-year, three-month sentence, as well as a five-year driving prohibition.
Provincial Court Judge James Walsh reserved his decision on sentence until February 28.
Walsh also allowed Burt to remain free on strict conditions until then, citing, among other things, the numbers and conditions at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary.
