A wet and windy delivery from Mother Nature is going to play havoc with the transportation system with the gulf ferries all but tied up today and tonight. Marine Atlantic will make a decision on tomorrow’s crossings later.
Justin Boudreau, a meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says the southwest coast will get a ton of rain but just how much is uncertain.
Depending on how long the low pressure system hangs around, it could dump amounts close to what came down when the TCH was washed out a few years ago.
The double whammy also features high winds, topping 100 km/h in the Wreckhouse this afternoon and well into tomorrow.
Similar winds going up the coast at least as far as Bonne Bay. The wind warning also extends to southeastern Labrador with winds of 100 km/h.
