Double digit temperatures, wind and rain are the order for the next day or two for much of the island and parts of Labrador even though it’s only a week until Christmas.
People in Labrador say they have never seen such weird weather this time of year, a time when ice and snow would be the predominant feature of the landscape.
Labrador West MHA Jordan Brown says he has never seen it like this. He’s concerned that the high temperatures and rain could cause issues for the power grid from Muskrat Falls.
He says it could cause trouble for the Labrador Island Link and power transmission. He says they did not build the line the way it should have been built for extreme weather.
