Most of Atlantic Place in downtown St. John’s has now reopened following an evacuation of the office building this morning.

Sources tell VOCM News a prisoner at provincial court damaged the sprinkler system shortly after 11 a.m., causing flooding that affected several floors, as well as the fire suppression system in the building.

While some areas remain closed to the public, Provincial Court will reopen at 1:30 this afternoon.

Cases that were postposed this morning will be called this afternoon, but people are advised to check the docket to confirm times and courtrooms.
