Hundreds of people on the west and southwest coasts are without electricity this hour as a wind and rain storm bears down on the area.
George’s Lake, McIver’s, Port au Port West, Meadows, Gillams, Summerside, Cox’s Cove and Humber Valley Resort are just some of the locations in the dark because of severe weather.

The intense low is also playing havoc with the transportation system with the gulf ferries tied up today and tonight and some intraprovincial boats affected, including the Fogo Island-Change Islands service and the southwest coast.
Winds in the Wreckhouse are gusting over 100 km/h.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says rainfall totals could be within the 100-300 mm range come Thursday, making travel and commutes treacherous.
He says there are rainfall warnings issued for a number of areas and advises against driving from community to community, as water will build up very quickly.
