Access to free menstrual products will soon be available at all City of St. John’s facilities.
The initiative comes after a local group dedicated to improving product access, wrote a letter to the capital city.
Leisha Toory, Founder of Period Priority Project, says products will begin appearing in city washrooms in the new year.

She says it’s a step in the right direction, as lack of access to period products can lead to a number of complications.
Toory says some are forced to take time off of work and school because they have to use alternatives that can be unhygienic and unhealthy. She welcomes the move by the city, as well as new regulations requiring all federally mandating workplaces to provide menstrual products in all workplace washrooms.
