The weather is going to take a turn on much of the island tomorrow as temperatures drop and the rain becomes snow and ice pellets. Winds will still be a factor, so that means a blustery Thursday and Friday for many areas off the Avalon while it will be rainy on the Avalon.
The gulf ferries are making the first crossings of the day but things are iffy for tonight and the next couple of days.
Environment Canada has a number of rainfall and winter storm warnings out for much of the island.

Port aux Basques Mayor Brian Button says forecasts calling for heavy rain are always a stressor not just for his town, but surrounding ones as well as people in the region have been through some tough times over the past year or two.
He says forecasts of extreme weather can be a play on the mental health of people after what the region has experience with Fiona and other extreme events including the washouts of the TCH a couple of years ago.
