The clock in the clock tower at the old Carbonear town office is finally working again thanks to a little help from some skilled Ukrainian residents.
The 118-year-old clock has not been in operation for some time, having originally been purchased and installed by Joseph Roper of St. John’s during the reconstruction of the building in 1905.
Yulia Veretennik reached out to the town of Carbonear via Facebook indicating that her parents wanted to help fix the clock.
They were on their way from Ukraine to Canada at the time.
Yesterday, Oleksandr and Liudmyla Pass showed up in Carbonear and fixed the clock.
The old town office building now serves as a museum in Carbonear.
