The president of the province’s lone flight school says a global pilot shortage is only getting worse.
Patrick White, President of Gander Flight School, says many airlines have ramped up their services in the post-pandemic era, but few airlines have the proper staffing.
White says the interest is there, but they cannot train pilots fast enough to get into the industry.
He says their enrollment is maxed out with nearly 90 students from all over the world attending the flight school and more on the waitlist. While they could take on more students, White says they prefer to keep their enrollment limited to ensure they get the best training experience.
