Roll up your sleeves! Your VOCM is partnering with Canadian Blood Services for the annual holiday blood drive today.
There is an elevated need for all eligible donors to help restore and grow the blood and plasma supply heading into the winter months.
No one knows the importance of donating blood more than Jason Piercey of St. John’s.
Piercey was in a motorcycle accident and lost 70 per cent of his blood before he arrived at the hospital. He sustained severe injuries, including many broken bones and a torn spleen.

Because of blood donors, Piercey says he can spend Christmas morning with his bright, hopeful, 10-year-old daughter.
He says it’s black and white—without blood donors, there would be no more Christmases, no tree decorating, and no cherished family traditions with Dad.
Piercey advocates for blood donation, emphasizing that there are many boys, girls, grandparents, and others who also deserve to spend Christmas with their families.
The annual VOCM Holiday Blood Drive is happening from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Canadian Blood Services on Wicklow Street.
Booking an appointment is encouraged and came be done by visiting blood.ca or call 1-888-2-DONATE.
