Canada Post has suspended some deliveries on the west coast of Newfoundland due to severe weather conditions.
The agency has issued what it calls “red delivery service alerts” for Corner Brook, Deer Lake and St. Anthony, citing heavy snowfalls and freezing rain.
A red alert means deliveries are suspended for the day and workers will not be sent out or recalled for service.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert is in place for Stephenville, which means they’ll try their best to complete deliveries today but there are no guarantees.
Canada Post says deliveries will resume once conditions improve, adding the safety of their employees is their number one priority.
“We know how much the holiday season matters to online shoppers and Canadian businesses, and we were ready again this year to deliver more for them at this special time,” reads a statement from Canada Post.
“If we do find, though, in certain areas across the country, that we do need to catch up and make some deliveries, customers may see our delivery agents on the street on the weekend.”
Customers are also encouraged to clear ice and snow from walkways, stairs, and driveways, to ensure safety for postal workers and other visitors.
Updates on service alerts can be viewed on the Canada Post website and social media platforms.
