The Port of Agentia is welcoming more than $15 million in funding to help expand its terminal and develop a multi-tenant docking facility.
The expansion will see a new multi-purpose, ice-free marine base in Argentia Harbour.
Chris Newhook, Vice President of Strategy & Growth with the Port of Argentia, says the expansion is much needed given the increased activity in the offshore wind industry.
He says the large monopiles that are on site to support the offshore wind development in American waters has taken up a lot of space and leaving little room left to expand other projects.
The port is also working alongside other industries such as onshore wind energy, critical minerals, and aquaculture—all of which will need room at the docks.
