The City of St. John’s expects the return of the Grand Slam of Curling will provide a substantial economic boost for local businesses.
The KIOTI Grand Slam of Curling will bring 16 of the top men’s teams and 16 of the top women’s teams from around the world to the capital city for the tournament slated to go ahead from November 26 to December 1, 2024.
Mayor Danny Breen says the news is welcomed by sports fans, government, and local businesses.
They’re expecting to see an additional $2 million payout during the event. He says the timing is perfect for business as things are usually on the slow side at restaurants and hotels.
