A 52-year-old man is dead after he was taken into custody by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook.

The man, who had been transferred to HMP custody, was found unresponsive in his cell this morning. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

SIRT-NL has launched an investigation into the sudden death. No further comment will be provided as the investigation continues.
