The Manager of Transportation Engineering with the City of St. John’s says they’re continuing to monitor traffic flow at the infamous Rawlins Cross intersection.
The area which intersects several downtown streets has been a notorious traffic quagmire with several accidents occurring over the years.
A few years ago, the capital city reworked it into a roundabout as part of a pilot project which didn’t work out.
Amer Afridi says the city is always analyzing how they can improve safety at Rawlins Cross.
He says there’s a lot to consider when it comes to such a large intersection that has traffic coming from various directions. Afridi says they are continuing to look at different ways of configuring Rawlins Cross in the future.
