The Bell Island Heritage Society is planning a special event to mark a substantial donation from a native daughter.
The society has received a $100,000 bequest from the late Yvonne E. Saunders Sinnott, who left Bell Island for Toronto in 1960 and made her mark in the banking sector.
Society President Linda Hickey says Sinnott remained deeply connected to her roots, embodying a kindred spirit that transcends geographical boundaries. Hickey adds that they will use the generous donation to further enhance their mission of safeguarding and enhancing the island’s heritage.
Special recognition of the donation will come during a ceremony at the #2 Mine Tour and Museum at a date to be announced later.
