Passenger traffic on the gulf ferries continues to rebound in the post-pandemic era as people resume normal habits and activities.
Marine Atlantic finished compiling the numbers for the 2022-23 fiscal year just before Christmas. Commercial traffic did not change much—up by two per cent—but passenger traffic jumped by 15 per cent from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 over the previous year. The ferries carried about a total of 360,000 people, 142,000 passenger vehicles and 92,000 commercial vehicles during the year.
President and CEO Murray Hupman says so far this year, the numbers are healthy as well.
“This is all good news for us,” says Hupman.
