Defenseman and Captain of the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, Jake Furlong, was born in Labrador. Both of his parents were born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, while his grandfather lives in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Meanwhile, Team Canada’s official goal song is the Irish NL classic ‘Ordinary Day’ by Great Big Sea.
