The Premier has yet to provide a clear answer regarding the possibility of a general election in 2024.

Rumours have been swirling for months that the writ could be dropped sometime in the new year.

Premier Andrew Furey has assured that the Conception Bay East-Bell Island seat will be determined by a by-election, thereby dismissing the chance of a provincial election preceding it.

However, when pressed for a direct answer about a 2024 general election, Furey was vague.

He says his principal focus at this time is finding solutions to the problems people are facing.
