The date has been set for the by-election in the district of Conception Bay East-Bell Island.
Residents will head to the polls on Monday, January 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Advance polling will take place a week prior on January 22.
So far, three candidates will be on the ballot—former broadcaster Fred Hutton is running for the Liberals, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s councillor Tina Neary is representing the PCs, and deaf rights advocate Kim Churchill gets the nod for the NDP.
The deadline for candidate nominations is set for January 7 at 2:00 p.m.
The successful candidate will fill the position that was held by former PC Leader David Brazil for over a decade.
