The Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in downtown St. John’s is celebrating a major milestone.
2024 marks the 325th anniversary of the parish—the oldest Anglican Parish in Canada.
The Cathedral building was completed in 1885, but had to be rebuilt in 1905 due to severe damage from the Great Fire of 1892.
The building, located on Church Hill, has been a designated National Historic Site since 1981.
Anniversary celebrations will begin today with the ringing of the church bell 325 times starting at 11:00 a.m.
Other events will be taking place throughout 2024 to mark the milestone.
