Health Canada has issued a recall on some hypoallergenic infant formula due to concerns that it may be contaminated with potentially harmful bacteria.
Nutramigen A+ LGG Hypoallergenic formula sold by the brand Enfamil has been recalled due to possible contamination of a bacteria that could cause infection and blood poisoning—especially in newborns.
Health Canada says human illness caused by the bacteria is uncommon, but can be serious or fatal in rare cases.
Formula sold in 591 gram containers with an expiry date of January 1, 2025 should not be consumed.
There have been no reported cases of illness from the product so far.
