Premier Andrew Furey is dismissing comments by PC Leader Tony Wakeham calling on him to publicly make the status of Upper Churchill negotiations known as “foolish.”
Furey says the Premier of Quebec has been very vocal in acknowledging that the Upper Churchill contract was a bad deal.
He says Quebec has also publicly announced the details of an expert panel that will provide recommendations on the deal. Furey asserts that the PC leader is either “out of touch or not paying attention to the news, but it was very public that these discussions were happening.”
Furey reiterated his assurance to the province regarding any renegotiation of the Upper Churchill contract.
He says Quebec needs a new deal, so if a good deal for NL can’t be reached, he will walk away from the table.
