The President of Memorial University’s Faculty Association says members at MUN’s Grenfell Campus have been put in a very difficult situation following a cyberattack December 29.
IT services at the campus have been suspended and an investigation is underway to determine the scope of the breach.
In the meantime, faculty members have been asked to pass in their Grenfell-issued desktop and laptop devices which Josh Lepawsky says puts faculty in a very difficult position with in-person classes set to begin on Monday.
He asks how you can deliver a computer science course, or digital art and design without computers. He says MUNFA members are being put in “an impossible situation” with administration expecting that a few days’ delay in the start of the semester will be sufficient. Lepawsky says in many cases, that will be impossible.
