A 32-year-old man is facing charges for an altercation with police in the centre city area of St. John’s.
Around 10:20 p.m., officers tried to pull a car over but the vehicle sped off to an apartment building, where the driver was seen going inside.
The man barred himself in the one of the apartments and several hours later police went inside with an arrest warrant. A scuffle broke out but police were able to arrest the man, charging him with flight from police, driving while prohibited, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, property damage and breach of a release order.
The man was held for court in the morning.
