A 44-year-old Carbonear man is facing numerous charges after police say the vehicle he was driving nearly collided with a police cruiser in Bay Roberts on January 3.
Police were driving on Country Road around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday when an oncoming car crossed into the opposing lane and nearly collided with the RCMP vehicle.
Police flicked on the lights in an attempt to pull the car over, but the vehicle sped away, crashing through a fence on a residential property.
Officers did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
The suspect vehicle was later located abandoned on the Veteran’s Memorial near the Shearstown overpass.
The driver, Bradley Whalen of Carbonear was located nearby and arrested.
He’s now facing charges of dangerous driving, flight from police, property damage and driving while prohibited.
