A national tax expert is recommending that people familiarize themselves with various tax breaks announced by the federal and provincial governments over the course of the year to maximize their tax refunds.

Gerry Vittoratos, a tax expert with UFile says many people simply don’t pay attention when provincial and federal fiscal updates and budgets are announced.

He says oftentimes those announcements come with various “goodies” that people can take advantage of when they file their taxes.

He says Canadians are often not aware of those goodies. He recommends going through budget and fall fiscal updates to familiarize yourself with those tax breaks.
